Informal Dialogue on Plastics Pollution and Environmentally Sustainable Plastics Trade (IDP) holds its third regular meeting in 2022

The third Informal Dialogue on Plastics Pollution and Environmentally Sustainable Plastics Trade in 2022 was held on 11 October 2022. Chaired by Ecuadorian Ambassador H.E. Jose Valencia and Rhys Pogonoski on behalf of the Australian Ambassador, the meeting was attended by about 100 delegates from WTO members, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and academia. During her opening remarks, Chargé d'Affaires Li Yihong affirmed the progress of IDP since the issuance of the Coordinators’ Ministerial Statement during the 12th Ministerial Conference. She welcomed Mauritius, Samoa and Mexico joining as new cosponsors, commended WTO members and stakeholders for their active participation in the dialogue and encouraged IDP cosponsors to continue to strengthen communication and cooperation with relevant international processes, actively encourage more members to participate, and strive for concrete results at the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference in accordance with the mandate of ministerial statement.

The facilitators of the three IDP work streams introduced the discussion of the pre-plenary meeting respectively. More than 20 WTO members and representatives of relative international organizations shared their experiences and opinions.
