We appreciate all the efforts leading to today's meeting against the current turbulence in global trade for MC14 ministerial actions.

First, a political signal should be sent to the effect that members are committed to safeguarding the resilience and the relevance of the multilateral trading system. Second, political guidance should be given to post MC14 work on reform, including dispute settlement. And third, in light of the strong appeal of the broad membership, the incorporation of the Investment Facilitation for Development Agreement (IFDA) into Annex 4 should be an essential outcome at MC14, if not earlier.

On other specific topics. First, on agriculture, China takes note of the recent proposals by members, which are subject to subsequent discussions. Given the importance of the agriculture issues, members should commit to continuing agriculture negotiations post MC14. China hopes based on the MC12 outcome on food security, members could continue to demonstrate flexibility in exploring potential outcomes. We also support positive results on the C4+ cotton agenda at MC14.

Second, fishery subsidies. China welcomes the appointment of the new NGR Chair and stands ready to work with members to conclude the phase 2 negotiation based on previous work. Third on G90 proposals. China hopes all members will continue to engage in a pragmatic and constructive manner with the aim of harvesting before or at MC14.
