On 14th June 2022, Ambassador Li Chenggang attended the briefing for the LDC journalists organized by the WTO Secretariat during the ongoing MC12. In his opening remarks, Ambassador Li pointed out that China attaches great importance to the development needs of the LDCs. Under the guidance of “Building community with shared future for mankind” and the “Global Development Initiative” proposed by President XI Jinping, China is continuously increasing assistance, within its capacity, to other developing countries, especially the LDCs in order to narrow the north-south development gap.
The LDC journalists spoke highly of China's assistance and support to the LDCs and viewed China as a good and true friend of the LDCs. They further discussed with Ambassador Li how China helps the smooth transition of graduated LDCs, builds LDC trading capacities, and promotes food securities as well as ongoing negotiations such as fisheries subsidies and COVID-19 Vaccine TRIPS Waiver.
